20th Annual Classic Car Show During Founder's Day
Visit us on Saturday, June 24th for the 20th Annual Classic Car Show. We normally have over 200 cars in the show - Hot Rods, Rat Rods, Trucks, Muscle Cars, Antique Cars and more throughout our lot! Shine only so check our Facebook page for weather updates. 10am-2pm.

Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet!! Sherwood Chevrolet Buick GMC partners with NEPA Chevy dealers and Little League Baseball to support our local baseball association. 2023's contribution included equipment and a cash donation. Rory Greenley, equipment manager for Tunkhannock Baseball Association was on hand to pick it all up. We also sponsor a minors baseball team - go Sherwood's! Play ball!


12th Annual Employee Crock-Pot Cookoff
The last Friday of February was our annual Crock-Pot cookoff! We had lots of great entries - Seafood pasta, pierogies, lemon squares, cobblers (multiple!), hamburger vegetable soup, pasta salad, cheesy beef pasta, kielbasa with kraut, meatballs, creamy sausage gnocchi soup, lil smokies, peanut butter rice krispy treats, corn bread, pagash pizza (not in a crock pot but tis the season!) and the best sliced bread you have ever seen. We always vote on our favorite and this year the top three were #3 - Stephen Grow with Catalina Chicken, #2 Jack Remington with Gumbo-laya and the #1 Favorite was Ryan Goble with Crack Chicken. He also received the coveted trophy (belt supplied by him). Winning recipes below!
Winning Recipes
Crack Chicken
- 2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken
- 1 oz. packet ranch seasoning mix
- 16 oz. cream cheese
- 8 slices cooked sliced bacon
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
Add the chicken to the slow cooker. Sprinkle over the ranch seasoning mix. Place the cream cheese on top of the chicken. Cover and cook on LOW for 7 hours. Shred the chicken and cream cheese. Stir in the bacon. Spread out into an even layer. Sprinkle over the cheese. Cover for 10 more minutes to allow the cheddar cheese to melt. Sprinkle with green onions. Serve on sandwich rolls.
Gumbo-Laya
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 onion, 2 stalks of celery, diced
- 1 yellow, 1 green, 1 red pepper, diced
- fresh garlic until your soul tells you to stop
- cajun seasoning to taste
- salt, pepper, cumin to taste
- 1 lb chorizo, cooked off
- 1/2 lb smoked chicken
- 1 cup jasmine rice
- 1/4 lb shrimp (at end)
- 1 handful cilantro, chopped
Make a roux - cook butter and flour over med heat - stirring the whole time until the color of peanut butter. Add onions, celery, peppers, garlic and spices and cook until soft. Put into crockpot. Add chicken and chorizo. Add stock. Cook on low for 4 hours. Add rice. Cook on low for 1 hour until done. Add shrimp and stir through. Let sit with lid for 15 mins to cook shrimp. Adjust seasoning. Add cilantro.
Catalina Chicken
- Catalina salad dressing
- Apricot preserves
- 2 lbs chicken breast
- Pepper
- Onion powder
- Parsley flakes
Mix dressing and preserves into sauce. Pour over chicken in crockpot. Top with pepper, onion powder, parsley flakes. Cook 8 hours on low. Shred chicken and keep warm for serving.

Bring in an unwrapped new toy for our Toy Drive benefiting HANDS of Wyoming County by 12/17/2022 in time for Christmas delivery! Boxes are located at Sherwood Chevrolet in the parts and sales departments and at Sherwood Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star (Tunkhannock location) in the service department. This is our 5th year for this toy drive - help us make it successful!
HANDS provides free preschool, parenting skills, opportunities for parent and child activities, training and workshops, educator resources, and opportunities to meet and support each other. Parent support groups such as Special Needs Parents and Parents Seeking Support in Raising Children are also available. Located in the beautiful Mehoopany elementary school, HANDS is a great asset to provide early childhood education for dozens of families in the area. 11th Annual Sherwood Chevrolet Crock Pot Cook-off
We held our 11th annual Crock Pot Cook-off earlier this week - time for the whole team to get together and share some delicious home cooking. The whole dealership smelled amazing all morning. This year we had a record 20 entries! Everything from franks & beans to cowboy caviar to chili to lasagna to strawberry jello cake (!!) and much much more. We vote on our top three favorites - for bragging rights and a sweet sweet trophy. This year our winners were: 1st place, Roy King, Hot Rueben Dip; 2nd place, Josh Carpenter, Hope's Mississippi Roast; 3rd place Chris Stalker, Honey Mustard Pork & Kraut. Recipes below! Full disclosure: these are a bunch of dudes and we eat in the shop.... recipes are more like delicious guidelines. Enjoy!

Winning Recipes
Hot Rueben Dip
- 1 - 16 oz Jar/package sauerkraut, drained
- 2 cups shredded swiss chesse
- 2 cups shredded or cut up corned beef (this recipe used corned beef sliced at the deli)
- 1 cup Russian dressing or more
Layer half of ingredients in crockpot - then do another layer. Cook on high for 45 minutes to an hour or low for 2-3 hours (or more) until everything is melted together. If on high, make sure its not sticking to the sides or it can burn. Serve with rye toast or crackers.
Hope's Mississippi Beef
- 1 - 4 - 5 lb beef chuck roast
- Handful or more pepperoncini pickled peppers, whole
- ¼ cup pepperoncini juice
- 1 - packet Au Jus gravy (we used a gluten free)
- 1 - packet Ranch seasoning (again, we used a gluten free)
- 1 - stick of butter
- ½ cup beef broth
Put together and pressure cook for 45 minutes. Shred. Alternatively, can put in slow cooker on low for 8-12 hours and shred. Serve beef in the broth with the peppers.
Honey Mustard Pork and Kraut
- 1 - three to four pound pork butt roast
- Rubbed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder to your taste
- ½ cup honey mustard or to taste
- ½ cup maple syrup or to taste
- Package or jar of Saurkraut - drained
- ½ cup brown sugar to taste.
Night before, rub the roast with the seasonings and brush on honey mustard and maple syrup. Cook over night on low 10-12 hours. Shred or cut into chunks. Add kraut and brown sugar,stir. Cook on low for 3 hours.

Sherwood Events
18th Annual Classic Car Show during Tunkhannock Founder's Day. Keep your fingers crossed for sun so you can tour hundreds of classic cars - the town shuts down Tioga Street and we clear our lots to make room for classics of all kinds - 40s, 50s, 60s, hot rods, muscle cars, jacked up trucks. Fun for the whole family! And that is just one end of the Founder's Day activities - walk a block uptown for face painting, bounce houses, open houses, street vendors, food trucks, robot demonstrations and more. Stephen Grow
Congratulations Stephen on winning the PAA Automotive Technology Scholarship. Stephen has been working for Sherwood Chevrolet since high school in our co-op program and we are so proud he's furthering his education and training at the GM Program at Harrisburg Area Community College. Great job Stephen!!

Sherwood Chevrolet is committed to supporting our local schools STEM programs and we are a proud sponsor of the Tiger Fund. We know that science and technology education can provide a strong foundation for marketable skills leading to life long careers and success. We work with the co-op program at the Tunkhannock Area High School as an entry point into Automotive Science. Juniors/Seniors can get on the job training while still attending classes. We also sponsor them to further their automotive education with college opportunities at the GM program in Harrisburg.
